The International Chess Festival "Aeroflot Open 2010" takes place in Moscow from 8 February (day of arrival) to 19 February 2010 (day of departure).

The Aeroflot Open Chess Festival is popular throughout the world and is running for the ninth time. This major event is open to chess players of most varied qualification: from unrated to having a very high rating. As before, the festival is held “under the wings” of Aeroflot. For the fifth year running the festival takes place in the major tourist complex “Izmailovo” - Hotel “Gamma – Delta”, where the participants of the previous festivals so liked to stay and play.

Among the top rated players of the A1 tournament are: Etienne Bacrot, Gata Kamsky, Bu Xiangzhi, Ivan Cheparinov, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Alexander Motylev, Arkadij Naiditsch, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Gabriel Sargissian, Sasikiran Krishnan, Ilia Smirin, Artyom Timofeev, and many more.

Michael Adams wins Gibraltar 2010!

The 8th Gibtelecom Chess Festival took place from January 26th until February 4th 2010. Jan Gustafsson, Michael Adams, Francisco Vallejo and Sandipan Chanda met in play-offs. Adams and Vallejo beat their opponents, Gustafsson and Chanda respectively, and thus met in the final where Adams came out victorious.

Magnus Carlsen wins Corus 2010!

The 72nd Corus chess tournament was held from January 15th until January 31st 2010 in Wijk aan Zee. Magnus Carlsen won clearly first place in Group A' finishing on 8.5/13, while Shirov and Kramnik follow with half a point less.

The 15 year old Anish Giri from India and the Chinese Li Chao are the sole winners of Group B' and Group C' respectively. Giri qualifies for next year's Group A' and Li Chao for next year's Group B'.
